Job Purpose

The Financial Reporting Specialist will be responsible for the monthly IFRS financial closing. He/She will be responsible for the activities of closing process including specific IFRS journals and for preparing reports for management information purposes, while also supporting IFRS 17 implementation program.

Main Duties/Responsibilities

  • Prepares interim and annual financial statements for Group reporting purposes
  • Prepares the monthly P&L per Product report for management information purposes and provides reliable monthly accounting data to Controlling
  • Performs analytical procedures on Balance Sheet and P&L on a monthly basis
  • Supports the preparation of the statutory financial statements
  • Supports and participates in the execution of finance transformation projects, analysis requests and other tasks as assigned
  • Suggests accounting treatments for new transactions and prepares accounting memos
  • Prepares IFRS accounting entries in the context of monthly and annual financial closing
  • Prepares Tax Templates for Group Reporting Purposes
  • Actively pursues business issues that impact the general ledger and evaluates the situation for acceptable solutions
  • Liaises with external auditors
  • Works closely with all IFRS 17 team members in resolving methodological and process problems
  • Participates in Parallel Runs and is responsible for completeness, accuracy and fair presentation of financial disclosures under IFRS 17
  • Participates in validation/reconciliation of financial/accounting data/flows
  • Interprets and provides feedback on the impact of IFRS 17 in the (monthly) reporting process
  • Analyzes and implements Management Reporting under IFRS17 including reconciliation with IFRS 4 and SII

Job Requirements

  • BSc in Accounting, Finance or relevant field
  • MSc will be considered an advantage
  • A minimum of 4 years of professional experience in the Insurance industry and/or a Big4 firm
  • ACCA/ACA professional qualification will be a plus
  • Solid knowledge of IFRS
  • Thorough understanding of insurance accounting
  • Knowledge of ERPs (i.e. Peoplesoft) will be considered an asset
  • Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel
  • Excellent command of the English language, both written and oral
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Outstanding organisational & time management skills
  • Accuracy & attention to detail
