On behalf of our client, ELPEDISON, we are looking to recruit a Long Term Energy Analyst.

The Position

Long-Term Energy Analyst focuses primarily on helping to implement the company’s energy long-term business and secondarily to support the desk’s commodities trading activities. As part of the responsibilities, Long-Term Energy Analyst will involve active participation in the development of analytics and infrastructure. The candidate should be highly analytical with competency in data analysis, math and statistics.

Main Duties/ Responsibilities

  • Performs quantitative analysis in order to provide rolling forecasts for electricity prices, mid-term plans and strategic planning of the company.
  • Analyzes large amounts of information to discover trends and patterns
  • Develops analytic tools to facilitate operations
  • Estimates productions and economics for the Company’s asset portfolio
  • Assists the development and creation of medium and long-term strategies that help the Company to achieve power business and development objectives
  • Participates in process for retail/wholesale hedge portfolio
  • Analyzes sets of data to quantify profit and supports decision-making related to company’s portfolio
  • Regularly interacts with teams internally to discuss strategies, business implications, and market developments, which affect the power business
  • Monitors weather, load, price behavior, transmission constraints/outages, and generation outages to identify risks to the company position and takes appropriate actions to mitigate portfolio risk
  • Identifies needs for Long Term Electricity Cross-border Trading, communicates with counterparties and reviews contractual process

Job Requirements

Main Qualifications/Personal Characteristics

  • BSc in Engineering or Mathematics 
  • MSc will be considered an advantage
  • At least 2 years of working experience in the energy sector
  • Experience in programming in R and/or Python, scripting and/or statistical software is strongly preferred
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Excellent command of the English language; both written and oral
  • Understanding of machine-learning and operations research
  • Strong quantitative, analytic, modelling, pricing and risk management skills
  • Interest in applying technology and/or quantitative skills to solve complex trading problems
